Help your Reservist employee to help you
Although there’s no legal requirement for you to allow time off for training, many employers are happy to do so because of the transferable skills Reservists can bring back to the workplace.
Assistance if your Reservist employee is mobilised
Mobilisation can be a challenging time for both you and your Reservist employee. But it’s worth remembering that financial assistance is available to you as an employer, and that the experience gained through deployment may benefit your organisation.
Make the most of your Reservist employee’s new skills
On returning to work after mobilisation, it’s worth asking your Reservist employee about their role whilst mobilised to see whether they have gained any new skills that can benefit your organisation.
Staff will be interested in what their colleague has been doing. You might want to ask your Reservist employee to give a talk or presentation on their role, or to lead a skill-sharing exercise based on their experience.
