Employers Abroad and UK Briefing Days

SaBRE in Northern Ireland continues to sponsor senior employers on visits to Reservists on operations overseas and on exercise in the UK and abroad. Employers have been extremely positive about these visits and many comment on the professionalism and enthusiasm of the Reservists they have met. They have been particularly impressed with the range of skills displayed that could be easily transferred to the workplace.

Since the start of 2010 we have sent employers to visit Reservists deployed in Afghanistan and on exercise in Norway.

Designed for Directors/Senior Managers, the visits take place over 3 or 4 days. They provide a valuable insight and cost nothing.

If you would like register your interest for future visits please let Athene Gordon know on 02890 664902 or ni-empsp@ni.rfca.mod.uk.

Royal Gun Salute

On Saturday 12th June, SaBRE will host a Royal Gun Salute and Reception at Hillsborough Castle to celebrate the official birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. The Salute is one of 5 annual 21 gun Royal Salutes which are fired simultaneously in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Hillsborough. In Northern Ireland, the Royal Salutes are organised by Headquarters Northern Ireland & 38 (Irish) Brigade and fired by a ceremonial troop from 206 (Ulster) Battery, Royal Artillery (Volunteers) using 3 ceremonial light guns.

If you would like to join us on the day please contact Athene Gordon on 02890 664902 or ni-empsp@ni.rfca.mod.uk.

Exercise MEDICAL CHALLENGE

Since our last regional update, Exercise MEDICAL CHALLENGE, a weekend event organised by SaBRE and the Reserve Forces, took place on the 12-14 March at Ballykinler Training Centre. Open to all medical trusts, professions and organisations allied to medicine, this year’s exercise tested clinical, leadership, management, and problem-solving skills in an exciting military environment. It provided an invaluable opportunity for Continuing Professional Development for over 50 participants from Northern Ireland. We’d like to extend our congratulations to the winners, the National Ambulance Service, and the runners up, a team from Queens University School of Nursing and Midwifery.

If you would like to register your interest for the next team building day in September 2010 please contact Athene Gordon 02890 664902 or ni-empsp@ni.rfca.mod.uk
