Supportive Employer list grows

SaBRE hosted lunch with the Regional Director of the CBI, Andrew Palmer and David Criddle, Chairman of the LS1, at 3 Albion Place, Leeds, home to the prestigious LS1 Club and Institute of Directors Yorkshire branch. The occasion proved to be very successful, as both have pledged to support SaBRE Yorkshire and the Humber with briefing slots at meetings and introductions to key members of their membership.

Over the last month we were also able to present Supportive Employers with their certificates at our four Regional Lord Lieutenants presentation events.

In Sheffield we awarded certicates to:

  • Mr Harish Patel, BMB Clothing
  • Mr Mark Shaw, ACFO South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue

In York:

  • Emma Wilkins, York St John University
  • Alannah Burke, Elite Training Systems
  • Russell James, ASDA Distribution

In Hull:

  • Nicolas Hildyard, ARCO
  • Rod Walker, On-line Computing
  • Ian Chapman, Ian Chapman Photography.

And in Leeds:

  • Michael Milner, Leach & Thompson
  • Philippa Ellis, EMIS.

On the 2 February The Federation of Small Businesses held their annual Dinner, in London. and SaBRE were among the Chairman’s invited guest list. This was a fantastic opportunity for members and guests to forge future links.

Presentations held on HMS The Iron Duke

The new year began with optimism in the air. Yorkshire and the Humber have joined with HMS Iron Duke, who will be berthed in Hull at the end of April, to host 20 Regional Employers to lunch and give them a VIP tour of the ship. By kind permission, the Captain has agreed to present Supportive Employer Certificates to Mr John Marshall of Marshall Construction Ltd and Mr Michael Cottam of Nationwide Retail Support.

We’re also pleased to announce that 15 Brigade Commander, Brigadier David Maddan has invited SaBRE Yorkshire and the Humber to attend and host Regional Employers at the Royal Gun Salutes in the Museum Gardens York. York holds the prestigious honour as a saluting station for Royal Gun Salutes and hosts around 6 VIP events per year. Guests will be lunched in the Ousefield House Officers Mess.

Exciting event signals the start of summer

Held at the end of May, the Sheffield University Officer Training Corps annual Beating Retreat was the highlight of the South Yorkshire calendar. An entire historic battle was re-enacted by members of the UOTC. And the Bugles from the Rifles added a real sense of drama by providing the music. Regional Employers were hosted by SaBRE Yorkshire and the Humber and members of the Community Engagement team from the Sheffield UOTC.
