Do I have to allow my Employer to be contacted?

Giving the MOD permission to carry out Employer Notification is a condition of joining or re-engaging as a Reservist. However, if you think you have a good reason for not telling your employer, you can apply for a waiver for up to 12 months. You can appeal against the decision if your application is turned down. However, you should be aware that your employer will still be contacted directly if you are mobilised.
