This year’s Executive Stretch continued to give employers a valuable insight into the skills their Reservist employees can bring to the workplace.
We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the Reservists who helped to organise Executive Stretch weekends up and down the UK this summer, giving their time to show employers just how much skill and commitment Reservist employees can bring to the workplace.
As you know, Executive Stretch is an opportunity for employers all over the UK to take part in military exercises and see first-hand the rigorous training Reservists receive as part of their military role.
It’s a physically and mentally demanding weekend for civilians, designed to generate a better understanding of the skills Reservists can bring to the workplace. Andrew Whincup, of the Royal Marines Museum said:
I gained a lot of new skills from Executive Stretch and it made me look at communication in a new way. Employing someone who is a Reservist means that they come with these skills already in place.”
Employers experiencing Executive Stretch are often amazed at the quality of training Reservists receive, as Richard Lenton, RSCD for Yorkshire and Humber, observed:
The positive experiences gained at this year’s EES have made the senior management of the companies who provided participants certain that Reservists in their workplace are an asset to the company.”
The weekends presented a tough physical challenge for civilian employers, but more than anything it helped them to understand just what Reservists do and encouraged their full support in the workplace.
Due to budgetary requirements, this summer’s Executive Stretch exercises were the last for the foreseeable future. We would like to take this opportunity to again thank everyone who gave their time and expertise to make them such a success over the years.
