It’s no secret that these are challenging times. The recent furore surrounding the proposed £20million Territorial Army budget cut is clear testament to the fact that difficult decisions sometimes have to be made to ensure that resources can be focussed on supporting important operations elsewhere. Recent events mean employers may well have questions regarding the status of their Reservist employees, making Employer Support more vital than ever right now.
The MoD is one hundred percent behind the Reserve Forces and recognises without question the vital role they play within the Armed Forces. It is our job to help employers understand this and to reinforce the benefits of employing Reservists.
Similarly, SaBRE will be continuing to fulfil its core responsibility of providing businesses and Reservists with help and information. With a scaling-down of social events and the temporary suspension of Exercise Executive Stretch, Employer Support Officers will increasingly be the key point of reference for employers. I am confident that we shall all successfully rise to meet the challenge together.
