Managing live firing on a range demands a high level of responsibility and focus.
All military personnel who conduct live firing training must have passed this course. It involves a series of highly-demanding, high-pressure weekends that require the learning of theory followed by practical application on the range. Those who gain the Range Management Qualification will have clearly demonstrated that they can plan and deliver a potentially hazardous event in a safe and effective way.
This qualification also allows them to gain the Level 3 Award in First Line Management, awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management, accredited on the basis of the significant management and planning content of the course. This award is designed to give first line managers a solid foundation to their formal development as a manager.
What does the training involve?
- Army shooting policy
- Ammunition reporting procedures
- Range management planning; range documentation; danger areas and safety rules
- Live firing tutorial
- Live firing practical exercises including night shooting
- Research including presenting a safety brief to the course instructors
What would it cost?
According to research endorsed by the Chartered Management Institute, if your employer were to pay for training to deliver equivalent employee development it would cost them in the order of £750 This only relates to the skills that would be relevant to a civilian workplace - areas such as documentation preparation and safety preparation.
